Recent water tests have shown the presence of total coliform bacteria in the water system. Total coliform bacteria, a naturally present bacteria in the environment, is not harmful and is used as an indicator organism for State and Federal testing.
On Monday, November 4th, we will begin a temporary process, approximately one week of chlorinating our water system at low levels.
During this time, Members may notice a slight odor of chlorine, you may also notice trace of amounts of Iron and Maganese, this is a result of those minerals being oxidized by the chlorine. Please note, the water is, and will continue to be, safe to drink.
Attached is an informational sheet with regard to Total Coliform Bacteria.
